Zaabalawi #9

Where do you find meaning and purpose for your life? Is there something that you are searching for but have yet to find? Are we all searching for something?

  1. Like every other people, I wake up every day and get ready for another day. Just like everyone else I am also searching for something that I don't even know what it is. I still don't know what is the purpose of life if all we do is just the same damn thing everyday. Sooner or later we will finally find what we are looking for, it's just a matter of time.

  2. In my life, I'm searching something, but I don't really know what is it. Is it a good family, my dream house, or even my job? There are many things that I have to finish, but there are so many of them. Additionally, I cannot finish them in the same time, and sometimes I have to give up one of them to finish the other one, so there will be a sacrifice in the decision. There is a sentence in Chinese in that "Every wide road can lead to Roman". Yes, it's true. There are many roads that we have to make decision. On the other hand, only some of them can lead us to our goal or target, but right now I might put more attention on my education. If my education doesn't success, my goal cannot be fulfilled. However, sometime, I might have some small goals that I can finish it easily. For example, how to buy a cheaper GPS and which one can really lead me to the right place. Additionally, the GPS can lead me to my goal also. Those of the small goals can make me feel happy because I feel I enjoy my life and I can find what I want, so it meet my need for that moment, but does it really meet my big goal? I think it cannot. Everyone has their own goals and dreams. Can we make it? It might depend on our effort or we can dream that we win the lottery, but does it really work? We can think about it because I can see some of my friends or others really enjoy in the lottery and one time, I saw two guys buy about 200 tickets for the lottery. What was the end? Well, I thought they win about 200 dollars, but they also used about 200 dollars to buy the tickets. Does it worthy? It's up to you.

  3. Couldn't agree more with Vedder. Often times I'd rev my engine only to let it idle and allow time to pass me by, lost in thought of just what it is in life I'm looking for. We graduate from school, get a job, earn respect in the business, pay our dues, and hope that one day we'll get our "big break" by means of promotion, meanwhile providing for our families. We all have different purposes in life, whether it be in fame, ambitions of monetary wealth, or the more modest approach of honest living, becoming spiritual, or living a frugal, minimalistic lifestyle. Just as Vedder puts it, due time we'll find that niche and realize what we're looking for.

  4. This is a really big question, a question concerning the purpose and significance of existence. Personally, I always come up with a different answer, depending on which stages in my lifetime. In this moment, I do find the meaning and purpose of my life when I sat down to eat with my family (happiness, smiles, share stories…), volunteered in library (I believe good willing), tutored students, met a lot of people and have a good friend network, saw my parents of feeling content of my improvement (including academic, communication and sport) and so on.
Moreover,I believe that that each one of us has a different purpose; we all search different things of fulfill our inner peace within all of us, while some are clearer of earlier on in his/her life than others. As long as we know what we aim for, we will be motivated and gave our life “true” meaning and value. The ultimate decision is “yours”. No one can change it.

  5. I believe from time to time everyone does wonder what is the meaning and purpose of life. However, the answer is never readily available so we continue with our lives and put the idea aside until the next chance we get to ponder it. Though what we fail to realize is while we are not thinking of the question and living our lives we ultimately have the answer, which is life itself!

The matters that you tend to while you are not thinking about your purpose is what your purpose actually is. If not, why must you tend to them if they have no impact or relevance to your life? Why not put everything aside and continue pondering forever?

The things that you do unconsciously everyday in life is your purpose. I believe that we become a part of what we do. Similar to the story, the narrator's objective was to seek out Zaabalawi for the sole sake of seeking and until the end seeking was all he did. Instead, if he had focused on healing and rested then perhaps Zaabalawi would have found him and he would have been healed.

We all have an image in our mind that a purpose is something always extraordinary, but we fail to realize that purpose may also be small and simple. Hence, if you live your life day to day you will realize the beauty along the way. The experiences you gain and the people you meet and affect will have become pieces of your purpose. Only then will we realize that our purpose in life is determined everyday by the things we do. What we do becomes our purpose, it is not predetermined, but instead rather spontaneous in a sense that everyone's life experiences are different and so will our purposes be.

  6. These are some question I asked myself before, at the beginning, I was very confused with my life and future since I came to the U.S, but now I don’t think so. There is a Chinese saying, “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”, I believe it. Don’t attempt to be a billionaire when you are a baby boy. Everyone has own position and different life stage in his/her life as raisinskl said. I don’t desire too much things which I know they are out of my control, it will made me unhappy; Now, after try my best, if I can do well my study and own work, treat well my friends and family, it is already a good gift for me, and I can find the wonderful meaning for myself during I handle with these.
Furthermore, I think we are all searching something in our life, such as wealth, high social status, and power. But don’t hurry to find out something that we cannot approach it. We will see what we may receive in the next life stage after we fulfill our action and responsibility, Sometimes, it is very simple, maybe it just a goodbye kiss from your lover, a hortative word from your parents, it is probably the meaning and purpose for your life that you want to find. “In the end things will mend.” That is always true for my life.

  7. Good question. I think at different time, I may have different answer. If you asked me the question when I was a child, I would answer my purpose of living was playing games because I wanted a happy life; if you asked me the question when I was a teenagers, I would answer my purpose of living is to be an important people because that’s what we learned from schools and books; if you asked me the question when I was out to work, I would answer my purpose of living is taking care of my families. In short, as time goes on, we would change our minds. In fact, as we have more experiences, we may think a lot. Finally, we may confuse. Right now, if you ask me the question, my answer is “I don’t know.”
Until right now, I don’t know the purpose of living. I think I got lost. I don’t know what I need or what I am looking for. However, what I can do is following somebody’s saying. Moreover, I don’t think I have my think. Even though there are many different roads under our feet, I don’t know which way I could go. Furthermore, I am still finding the answer of my purpose of living in the world. I hope I can find that in one day.
I believed we are all searching for something. Maybe different people are searching different things. I think life likes searching. We should to use heart, time and motion to search the new thing, to feel more about what the life is and to know more about life. Maybe life is so cool.

  8. This question makes me recall Martin Luther King, Jr. "I Have a Dream". Everybody owns his dreams, especially when we were children, like "I want to be...", "I want to have...". This is the origin of meaning and purpose for our lives. When we were studying at school, we were taught not to waste our precious life time. In order to never having regretful life, we should have our specific goals and try our best to achieve success and make our life more meaningful. As a result, we still believe that specific goals support our lives meaningfully. For me, like most common people, obtaining high education, earning a great deal of money, and enjoying a beautiful life is the goal I am searching. In reality, these are people's basic need and demand, but how long can we achieve them? and even how many people have already done it? We don't know, but we only know that as long as we do our best to try it, we still have chances to achieve it. Whether we can achieve our goals or not, we can't give up-- I think, this is the meaning and purpose of our lives.

  9. The meaning of my life is the journey I am taking the cross road of time. There are time when I am looking for something that I can work toward to in the existence of time. I do not search for it but instead let it come to me and that will be the fate has chosen for me, this is what I believe that it will be my life that has meaning.

  10. I find the meaning and purpose in my life is in my mind. I believe our lives are control with ourselves, maybe we can’t choose our mother, father and our families; however, we can control our futures. Our futures are handling in our hands. A lot of people pursue to get a good life, which are live better, and marry with a beauty woman. In the competition society, people to achieve their goal to clam up to a higher position use a treacherous way. Rich people are always label a successful mark. They all greedy, they are running behind the money.

  11. I think I am looking for my purpose of life, because I alwasys ask myself what kind of person I want to be, what I am striving for. I believe every people also looking for there meaning of life, searching for something. Perents always told me to study hard to enter a good school, and after graduating, to find a good job, make a better life, I feel we can't find our purpose of life because it always something new appear. It might be our motivation to continue our livelihood. Thus, I think we always have something searching for, but we never find it.

  12. Personally, I believe that one’s meaning and purpose in life is marked by the actions they take. There isn’t necessarily a definitive meaning or purpose, but rather than the decisions you make that eventually lead you to whatever you become in the future. However, this is only half true because the other half of your fate is based on luck, you cannot fully control your life. The more enigmatic and uncontrollable half may somewhat influence the decisions you’ve made, it’s really difficult to say since each person is unique and therefore has a different destiny.

For myself, I attempt to seek out the meaning of my life through doing things I find important and am interested in. For example, I would certainly not pursue a career simply for the sake of money, but rather for that particular niche or drive. However, that again is only a single aspect of life, since work occupies a sector of our lives. There may be lessons that we need to come face-to-face with, some of which may define or change our character. The meaning of life is indeed a complex question that has no definitive answer.

  13. I think the meaning and purpose for my life is living happily. Where can I find those happiness? I can have happiness from my family, friends and school (from my work further). I don't have to concern too much about money right now. But, I will face to this problem in the future. So, I have to study hard in order to get a better work later. My family and I won't have to worry about money for living and raising children.
Actually, Someone may not understand what he/she is living for right this moment. He/she will figure this out as growing up.

  14. I want to answer the question, "Are we all searching for something?" In my mind, we always ask people, "What is your hope or wishes?" They will always say, "I hope there will be peace in the world." Or sometimes, some of the people will say, "I hope the environment that we are living will be better." Many things that we wish are the same thing, so can we really apply in our real life? Yes, we can, if we have a good cooperation, we can do it. However, nowadays, people are care about themselves more, and it is normal because we cannot leave the material world. We always use waste our paper, so our trees become lesser and the CO2 in the earth will become more. After that, our weather has been changed by us and it's hot and we cannot endure. What will we do? We will complain. However, it's not a good idea to solve the problem. The only way to solve the problem is we work together and then we can have a better life. When there is cooperation, the energy will be more and stronger.

  15. This is a very interested question and I also like it so much. In my opinion I am pretty sure that all of us should have a purpose in life or even more. We do need some time to realize and explore what our goals is and how to acheive our goals. In my life i think family is the most important to me. Why do i have to study? it is because the certificate of my bachelor Degree is the entree ticket in nowadys society. In order to have a good career in life we all expect to have a payably occupation to indemnification our lives. This is all about realism. money makes the murder comes.
