What We Don't Tell the Children Prompt #2

Describe the artist couple.

Who are they? Why are they there? How do they act? Why do they leave one month after moving in?

  1. The couple came to this "primitive place" to paint the view and take photographs. They complain by going to their neighbors for one of the artists got scratched when she tried to save their attacked oriental cat by the two black wild cats. They left the place for another "primitive house" in Santa Fe because they were concerned about the safety of their cat.

  2. When I first read this poem I had no idea what kind of message is the author giving us. Though, I kept it in my head for a long time. It seemed to be very simple, when it came to the actual words, but I could not find the importance of the poem. According to my understanding, the poem reflects everything that brings our modern society. Humans are over crossing borders, they do not know limits any more, violence is taking place on a regular base, lack of respect and standing for each other, common sense -what happened to it?
So this young couple decides to look for their imaginary world. The world they know only from great grandparents stories and fairy tales. The world where their child would be welcome, would not lack love, would have safe environment, and where its primitive senses could be healthily developed. This would create a version of a new kind of human being and that would be the core for what is no longer here. The painting tools is a symbol for their started picture securely kept in their heads, their motivation that such place still exists. For this reason, they paint and paint until the picture is finished by finding their desirable location. However, finding rather disappointment, they are forced to erase some parts of that picture as they paint, which slows them down, even worse, returns them back on place where they have already been before, though not forgetting about the primitive society long time ago.

  4. They were the artist couple and they came to the first primitive place to live, painting the views. However after they got a trouble with the two black wild cats(They killed the couple's cat, the couple attacked the wild cats and got hurt from the cat.), they left the first primitive place to find the other primitive place, which was more safe and better to live, painting. I think it is like our life. The thing the artist couple paints the view of where they live is like we draw and paint our lives ourselves and in general whenever we get any evil from the others we would return the evil to them again. We prefer to make our life as good as possible and intend to escape from the dark and bad side of our world.

  5. they are an artist couple that move to a new place with the hope of a new beginning. they hoped this place will give them inspirations to paint pictures and take photographs. however, trouble started when their cat got killed by their neighbor's two black cats and the wife were injured by the cats at well. they wanted the neighbor to apologize and also killed the two black cats, but they were not get what they wanted. that's why they decided to move out after just one month because they could not live in place where they feel uncomfortable and threaten. they left to seeked for a safer and better place to live.

  6. They are a couple wanting to live in an imaginary place with no problems. A place that might only exist in paintings, which is why I believe the father refers to them as artists and not because they really were artists.
I thought the couple represented the people in a society that constantly complain about problems that exist and believe that it would be better to get rid of the 'problem' then try to resolve. "those blacks are vicious they ought to be killed"
After living for only a month they move because they want to find a "primitive home" For me the use of 'Santa Fe' was almost sarcastic because they believe they might find that imaginary perfect place to live.

  7. They are a couple, artists, probably Anglo from an urban area, who can afford to move around wherever they want. They were probably in search for a place outside of the big cities, a place that is "primitive". This couple thought that they could live next to humble people from this old small town, but as soon as something goes wrong with their pet, the contradiction is shown that they can't and wont live next to the humble people of that town.
