All Quiet #3

Why do you suppose wars are so common?

20 comments:

  1. War has become so common because our worlds leaders see fighting as the only suitable means to solve problems. Every soldier is taught to kill the enemy so even if a soldiers doesn't feel like killing another soldier, just considering they might be killed if they don't may lead them to take the first shot.
Like with any rivalry the fighting goes on until someone gives in. Since no one gives in during a wars even if a war is lost, revenge isn't forgotten.

  2. We go to war for many reasons; it could be politics, gain of interest, fear, border conflict and hatred. War is common in our world because it is in human nature to seek revenge and personal interest. I sometimes wonder if seeking war by humans is human evolution to control human population (maybe).

  3. Wars are very common in the world right now because we always have something that we need to fight for. Our religion, nature resources and responsibilities become our reason or excuse to fight for. However, what is the main point of war? The main point of war is we want to have a better life. Long time ago, we also had war and we were just using some old weapons to fight. Why? It is because human is aggressive and we wouldn't satisfy our needs. Some elders said to me before, "Human wouldn't satisfy because their needs will be growing everyday and it would last forever. After they died, their offspring will follow their roles and continue this evil thought." Actually, in the world, nature resources are limited and we will face the short of resources. However, we are using some stupid ways to keep our life and it is war. We will make many excuses to create a war between each other because we want to get more resources.

  4. I agree with Darius, about the reasons they fight for. Also, the media in our society is full of violence. Turning on your television, your Xbox, you will see that the violence is so normal and acceptable so widely. They seem to tell us that violence can solve most issues in the world. This may be the reason why “the television generation” is more violent that their parents.

  5. Because the world are smaller then before. seem like their many hotspots around the world, some of the conflicts are over who own the lands and other are just has different belives. War can start just about any where these days because most resoures can move where they needed in hours, not in days like wars used to fighted. Wars are more common these days bacuse battlefield are different, you don't know who is your emlimes are sometime and battles are not fight between two goverments. Battles are now fight between goverments and group of people that have different view on how we should live.

  6. Selfishness and greed are human nature. For example, resources are not balance, you have money and land, but I don't, so I want your resources, then fight. Development is not balance, I am powerful, and you are weak, so I would like to tease you. Those reasons all are roots of wars. Indeed, whatever human or animal, both will fright with each other for material of survival, then war is happen ineluctably. In addition, the difference of civilizations and religions also is a root of wars. Our world, even in a small city, the civilizations and religions are different, and that why wars are so common.

  7. Ever since a human being existed, war was the solution to resolve any kind of dispute. Even though there were no heavily armed soldiers like nowadays, there always were wars which fitted the civilization of that specific moment. Wars influenced and shaped the world we are living and will continue on doing the same for the rest of the existence of man kind. So, it is not hard to conclude that whether we like or not war would be a common thing human beings wouldn't know to manage it differently.

  8. In many cases, the reason lies in the inability to negotiate. In many cases, the conflicts can be easily resolved if both sides are willing to compromise but there are always some individuals in either sides who want it all. For instance, when I look at the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea, I think that it was caused by a simple disagreement of the governments of the two countries over the ownership of a land located between the two countries. This small disagreement between the two governments led to war, a war that the people never asked for or wanted. This war led to the division of people of the same origin, culture and language. There were a lot of families consisting of both Ethiopian and Eritrean members but as a result of this war, a lot of those families had to be separated. When I was back in Ethiopia, I had a friend whose father lived in Eritrea, and every couple of months, they both had to travel to Kenya just so that they could meet. They had to do this simply because the father couldn’t come to Ethiopia, and the son couldn’t go the Eritrea. Therefore, situations like this could be avoided if only we could avoid the influence of the minority that want everything, and learn to compromise.

  9. War is popular becuase every country now has been able to develop weapons that are known to create unthinkable damage. So having these weapons are similar to having bragging rights, the country with more weapons wins. It usually starts with a powerful country going out finding smaller countries to start war with, and if the smaller country refuses to fight they might be known to everyone else that they can be punked. War is nothing but a business, when you have car companies that manufacture weapons are working overtime to crank out some rockets or bullets for their country, and they get paid big bucks in reutrn. So war is basically collateral damage, the country sends a soldier out to war and dies, the companies that support the war get paid money.

  10. I agree with Chaperones and Dewei, war is so common because each and everyone of them involves humans. It is mankind's nature to destroy everything. We fight one another for selfish ends such as land, natural resources, and anything else that contributes to personal gain. The process of war is selfish in itself, as leaders use the lives of soldiers at their disposal for their own greed. War has been around since ancient times where tribes attack one another for gains. We are in a war today and after it has subsided I highly doubt that it will be long before we find ourselves in war once again.

  11. I agree with above students’ opinions. I also agree with that the war is common. When we looked around, there are so many things about the wars in the televisions. In fact, war is also a way for the governments to solution their problem. However, for the ordinary people, like you and me, war is only the game between countries. Furthermore, war likes a game because it likes a country between another country to show their powerful. The Government always gives all kinds of wonder reasons for people to fight; let us think that the war is granted. As time goes on , we may believe that war is common because we need to live.

  12. Wars are ever so common, especially today, because people are unwilling to compromise and make sacrifices. The tyrants who possess a glimpse of power will do possibly anything to keep their stranglehold on whatever it is they want to manipulate. In fact, wars are usually caused by petty things, ranging from the buildup of rage from a simple disagreement to the extreme point of consolidating power. We live in such a competitive society today that people create rivalries or enemies for the slightest reasons, paranoid that someone will outshine us, putting our jobs in jeopardy. So, what do we do as a result? We resort to the most distasteful tactic; we sabotage them in any way possible.

  13. war, and its consumption of life, has become common since the dawn of time. Different race, religion, and ideologies spark friction causing uproars amongst each other. Any nation today have no sense of good nor evil, their influence reaches to countries and organizations involved in every facet of war. War changes along with the times, every victory of every war becomes a trend of renewed conflict, a spiral effect if you will, causing a new war to emerge. On one of my earliest comments I mentioned that war will continually perpetuate its existence, much like a chain reaction so long as continue our gluttonous, egocentric ways all in the name of power and control.

  14. Wars are so common because of desires of human beings as I mentioned on "The Man I Killed #6". In addition, some people can make a lot of benefits from wars. Such as weapon sellers, medicine factories. Therefore, they encourage starting wars. According to this huge benefits, there are wars everywhere.

  15. War are so common because every individual or countries involved in the war has its interests and benefits. Most of them are greedy. They can not be satisfied with those benefits thay have already have. They want to get more and more, so they use wars as a tool to conquer others in order to achieve their goals. They take advantage of the wars to protect their benefits and interests. As long as there are differences between individual to individual and countries to countries, they will fight in wars to obtain balance or acquire what they have to get.

  17. Now a day, war is very common to every country in the world. Because every country has people who is greedy, and selfish. They encourage war to take longer, so that they can make hug interests and benefits by selling weapons to that country. As long as war keeps going on, those selfish people would do anything to take advantage of the war to make more profits

  18. The war is so common since it has a long human history. All of these reasons achieve the same purpose eventually, which are benefits. For example, in World War Two, in my view, why Japan defeated China because Japan is island country, they wanted to get more resource for China. Also, people want powers. In the history of China, Chinese fought each other almost five thousand years. The only reason why they fought was they want to be the king.

  19. I agree whats Karen's opinion. Wars are really common its mostly because of politics. Wars and military are some ways to show their power from their country. The more powerful country can control more part in the world.Especially like Japan, they developed lots of military in there own country therefore, the US co-operate with them will enhance their power.

  20. Most wars happen due to there being one peson in charge supposely. Then they decide hey I got power and I want more. We the people vote these people to be incharge and in return they do the people in. They take more than they need. The person with power get's greedy and selfish. The people and other leaders notice this greediness and they decide I want a piece of that to. Now we got monkey see monkey do. The only thoing is theirs not enough to go around. So it is inevitable for the war to ever end. Unless we start looking alike and acting alike, and all on the same possions as one another. No diferentials at all.
