Will homosexuality ever be just as accepted as heterosexuality? In other words, will people eventually judge homosexuality as equal to heterosexuality, or will there always be a stigma attached to being gay?
there is a certain amount of personal responsibility that we have to partake in when it comes to accepting homosexuality and the deviant. Much of it has to do with avoidance, exclusion, and rejection which are critical factors that make people feel devalued. They can happen in ways that are only noticed by the person experiencing them. So when one feels rejected, devalued, excluded, and avoided, sometimes people don't do it on purpose, perhaps they're completely thoughtless about it. So one may think their polite by not acknowledgining homosexuality, but that homosexual may feel as if he/she is being rejected. It's more about being thoughtful in every action we take, and I believe it's not as oppressive as it used to be.
In many cultures, also in U.S., homosexual people are frequently prejudiced and discriminated I think, they still cannot be considered the same as the heterosexuality. Like members of many other minority groups that are the objects of prejudice, they are also subject to stereotyping, which further becomes marginalization. The prejudice, discrimination and stereotyping are all likely tied to forms of homophobia and heterosexism, which is negative attitudes, bias, and discrimination in favor of opposite-sex sexuality and relationships. They don’t like the homosexuality. It is deeply embedded in people’s definitions of themselves as men and women, and manifested in prejudiced attitudes toward gays and lesbians, as well as overt hostility and violence against people suspected of being gay.
Lesbians and gays are a minority group in our society, one that has been denied equal rights and is singled out for negative treatment in society. In my opinion, the mainstream of U.S. society tends to reduce prejudice and discrimination towards minority group also includes homosexual people along with the development of the society. I believe that homosexual is not whose problem, is other special kind of nature. And I believe how to judge a person is not supposed to depends on his or her sexual orientation. People’s morality and accomplishment actually have no relation with their sexual orientation either, therefore, we truly should treat people equally.
I would like to share interesting information I learned last semester in my Human sexuality class. In the late 1940's and early 1950's Dr. Alfred Kinsey has conducted a researcher about human sexuality by interviewing 18,000 white men and women about their sexuality. In the study, a scale from 0 to 6 was used to describe a person's sexual orientation. 0 = Exclusively heterosexual 1 = Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual 2 = Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual 3 = Equally heterosexual and homosexual 4 = Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual 5 = Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally 6 = Exclusively homosexual In his research Dr. Kinsey found that most of the people were between heterosexual and homosexual scale. This result has caused shock and controversy in the general public at that time. At the same time, it has helped launch sexual revolution and education in most schools around the United States. The more people are knowledge about sexuality the more likely they will make the right choice of their sexuality for their own happens. They are also willing to accept other peoples chose of sexuality with out stigmatizing them. Now days, more and more people are coming out of their shells and admitting their sexuality openly. The more people are able to admit their true sexuality the less people see and fear other peoples chose of sexuality. I am certain few years from now people will get over of their fear and accept homosexuals because everyone is entitled to choose his/her sexuality.
I'm not sure what to think of it but if that what they want and make them happy, why not, as long as they able to control themselves. These days’ people are lot more open to homosexuality than 10 years ago, I think over times the heterosexuality and homosexuality will be accepted equally some day, but I don't think it will be tomorrow. They still many different groups with different options out there, and the government should not take side on this, their belief and life style shouldn't be the government job to tell you what you can & can't do. I think the heterosexuality group and the homosexuality group can work out their difference.
I think homosexuality will not accepted as equally as heterosexuality. I am not anti homosexuality person, but I think it's hard for every body accpet homosexuality. Since human have thousands of history, and the nature of human race is one male and one female, so we can continue our generation. Thus, in terms of society, homosexuality probably will not be accepted. But in terms of human right, I think there is a chance homosexuality will be accepted as equall as heterosexuality legally.
It depends, may be accepted, or may not, but it will be difficult to accept as heterosexuality because of the deep-rooted tradition and stereotyping in human's minds. Like MingTao's opinion, a man and a woman is the good partnership in the family. It is natural need for man and woman. Therefore, no body would think man fall in love with not only woman but also man. As this situation, when humans find there exists pairs of men who both love each other, they think it is impossible and maybe these homosexuality has psychosis. They think homosexuality violates human's moral and physiological standards. However, in terms of human right, everybody has chance to choose who he wants to love with and stay with, that is to say, homosexuality and heterosexuality are equal and leagl in this situation. So, in most modern and liberal countries, it is easy for people to accept homosexuality as heterosexuality; while in most Asian traditional countries, some people still feel shamed for the homosexuality.
In my opinion, its doesnt matter of homosexual nor heterosexual, as long as those people doing things to make themselves happy, I don't think its a problem at all. Even homosexual are not be well accepted in the society, they feel so embrassed and also facing lots of difficulties on discrimination. We should respect what others sexual orientation and be open minded towards homosexual.
The situation can be hardly changed. Because heterosextuality is determine by the nature and by the long history. It is harder for people to change their mind if they believe something other than just agree something. It is good that people are getting more tolerate and understanding other more. People are being nice to other group. But like the "don't ask don't tell" rules in the army. It indicate that people shows more respect to the homosextual people but on the other hand it also tells that most people believe being gay or lesbian is shameful. All in all, people are trying to find a solution to this discrimination but seems like we need a long period of time to solve the difference in our mind.
i don't think homosexuality will ever be just as accepted as heterosexuality because the traditional concept of heterosexuality is been around and it's truely excepted in life. homosexuality is just an unrealistic behavior for a group of people. people can act or choose to be with anyone they want, but homeosexuality will not be as accepted because nature is made for men and women, only male and female can reproduce.
Everyone has their own culture which acts as a set of rules and ideas. As long as there are cultures that discourage homosexuality then that prejudice and nonacceptance will always remain. Considering that most cultures and religions in the world are against homosexuality estimates that being homosexual will never be judged equally as being heterosexual.
Even though homosexual are being more accepted today than 10 years ago, but i don't think that it will ever be consider equal as heterosexual. in the U.S. and many other countries, people consider homosexual is wrong and not normal. many people think that marriage or a relationship can only involve a man and a woman, homosexual couples should not allow to get marriage or be together. I think people should be more open to this issue because there is nothing wrong about being a homosexual. homosexual people are still the same as everyone else, they just happen to have feelings for people of the same gender. also, i don't see how accepting homosexual people will hurt other people in anyway. even though it may seem impossible, i hope that homosexual will be more accepted in the future.
Homosexuality will be accepted one day as heterosexuality but not to those who have no open mind. If homosexuality is equal to heterosexuality then it will solve the difference between people, and it is the same thing that happen with racial differences. In thought this will take some time to people getting used to it but in the long run it will be helpful to the population of the world because of overpopulation, it is one matter the world need to see a way of people overusing the planet resource . That homosexuality is accept less resource are used because they cannot conceived a child and that would be a great thing.
I think homosexuality will be accepted later on. Since it becomes more popular, I meet homosexuals more easily. In the beginning, I refused to contact with them. I just felt they were monsters. However, I found that they were just normal people. They just picked a different sexual orientation. And, I feel comfortable to meet homosexuals. So, I think many people, like me, will accept homosexuality finally. On the other hand, the homosexuals are fighting for the right of equility at many places over the world. We do not accept sexual discrimination. That means, all of us are trying accept them. Eventually, homosexuals will be considered as normal people. In addition, we will not insult them with words such as gay.
I think the homosexuality ever be just as accepted as heterosexuality in the future, because the world became more and more enlightened and democracy, people more accept the homosexuality than before right now. the only one thing people opposes the homosexuality is they can not have baby to violate the nature and religion. but I believe it can be filled later because the scientific improve, and they can adopt baby to have a real family. it is nothing sham or stigma to be gay.
Personally, I believe homosexuality will eventually be accepted as heterosexuality, as current events are already inclined towards that direction. People tend to judge those who are different primarily because they themselves are scared, similar to how racism works.
For example, fear is an extremely potent weapon that has been used since the beginning of time, as evident by the oppression of the Jewish people. However, if we are able to gradually break down these barriers, we can better understand another and prevent tyrannical governments from manipulating us to the extent where we mindlessly obey their every command. If there is absolute unity, then fear itself would only exist in the corner of our minds. It simply breaks down to how society functions as a whole. Moreover, eventually, there will be a point where society is so diverse that race will no longer be an issue. We will eventually embody most, if not, every culture. Although that’s a bit different from sexual orientation, we will learn to accept one another, however, I think this will only occur in future generations, for it is impossible in our lifetimes.
In my opinion, homosexuality cannot be accept as heterosexuality. homosexuality disobeys the law of division of nature. the works to procreate our younger generations must happen in a male with a female, and it is not happen in the same sex, at least right now. to accept the homosexuality will further people give up their responsibilities of procreate next-generations. that will lead to human resource decreasing even destroy a race.
Some people view homosexuality as immoral, based off of their cultural, religious, and/or personal beliefs. Most beliefs are derived from some type of historical philosophy. In my opinion, as long as there are different interpretations of natural philosophy, moral philosophy, and metaphysical philosophy, with belief systems having a relationship to all three types; there will always be a sigma attached to homosexuality, because we will always have different philosophies and different ways of interpreting them.
Homosexuality and heterosexuality will never be viewed as one. There will always be one side that will disagree with another side. Wehn that happens more problems occur, and more hatred will happen. It is same like racsim one race doesn't like this race because they feel they have a certain trait that they dislike, same goes for homosexual people, some people find they have certain traits they don't like, so they just hate them. This is something that will take a really long time to sort out if it dose get sorted out, but I don't see that happening, so one sexuality will always hate another.
For many there is a lot of fear attached to accepting people who are homosexual. The general thought is that homosexuality is immoral. Yet there are probably more immoral acts committed by heterosexual couples. Still as long as there are people who believe their way is the only way, the battle over homosexuality will continue.
